Or maybe several hundred? Don't sweat it! Make yourself a goal to try it out again - and head back this fall. Or head to one for the first time. Hey - no preaching from me on this one - I've taken my share of Sundays off in the past few years, too. But, we can all use the encouragement and also have a time to give out of the abundance of all we've been blessed with.

So try it out - we're going to Brentwood Baptist Church here in the Nashville area - and love it! Check out where some of your friends are going or even the church in your neighborhood, and go! You just might enjoy it...

Learn more here! Moving day came and departed with much sweat, a few tears and an exhausted family! The last few days of moving furniture into the room that it should have been put in the first time and unpacking boxes of mostly wrapping paper has been a cathartic process. Clean slate of a new, clean house helps for organization of life's things. Amazing how much you can accumulate in just a few short years. It makes me wonder how much knowledge and good or bad habits can be accumulated in the same amount of days gone by...

Chapter Nashville has started! They are so excited about getting out of school for the summer - but a bit sad about the move to their new state of Tennessee. The adventure awaits and the next chapter is beginning.

Moving day is on the calendar and the boxes are being filled for the journey. This move is a significant one - as we haven't moved in almost 6 years and things do tend to accumulate with time. Pairing down, cleaning out and simplifying our stock of "things" is a must - though also very needed at this point in life. Things accumulate at a exponential pace with no intention, I have found. Stuff gets in the way though, sometimes.

So, if you have a need for an old green couch; 300 t-shirts; books by the dozens and/or toys that make loud noises - head over to see me and I'll be glad to pass on our accumulated mass of stuff! Maybe it's no one in particular - just life that seems to be "gettin' your goat" (as my grandmother used to say). Everything seems to be going "wrong"; your kids are off the chain & don't listen; your car seems to break down every other week; things just don't end up like you thought they should at this point in life...

Life sometimes gets that way but perspective is everything. And reality is - everyone has those times in life! Whether it is an individual picking on you - or life itself - step back and look at it in the perspective of the whole of your life and you'll see that it isn't that big of a deal.

Here is a fun little song from Taylor Swift that may be a great reminder of those who are mean in life. It isn't deep and meaningful - just fun and a cute reminder! (And my daughter loves Taylor Swift - so this is for her mostly!)

Taylor Swift - "Mean" from Taylor Swift on Vimeo.

Make the most of your time! I had heard of the Second Baptist Houston's flash mob video but when I saw it on a secular blog referencing it as a great example of "how to market your company successfully", it hit me that the church led the way in this one.

Churches have more creative juices than most companies put together due to the variety of people that God calls together. Add to that the opportunity to creatively share the Gospel - a cause and message that is more valuable than all of the Coke, Lucky Jeans, Geico Insurance or Apple products in the world! Check out the video below and I hope you become as inspired as I am after watching it!

After all, isn't this why the internet was created? To share information? Here are some quotes that describe the possibilities of going undefeated this fall:

We asked those in the know:

BRET BLOOMQUIST

AP Top 25 voter/El Paso (Texas) Times

"Sure Georgia can go undefeated, though that's never the way to bet for any SEC team. At LSU and at Auburn obviously stand out as the roadblocks, but other than that, the home-away mix seems good for Georgia."

JOE PERSON

AP Top 25 voter/The (Columbia, S.C.) State

"The Bulldogs will make it through a tough nonconference schedule. But there's no way they survive the SEC without a scratch. The good news: One loss will not derail Georgia's BCS hopes."

SCOTT HOWARD

Bulldog Radio Network

"There shouldn't be any argument about who is the No. 1 team if Georgia goes unbeaten with this schedule. This thing is brutal. It's like a minefield and I just think it is too difficult to expect the Dawgs to go undefeated, but I'll love it if they do."

TOM DIENHART

Sporting News

"It will be difficult, especially the games at LSU and Auburn. But I think the Bulldogs will be able to outscore foes with Stafford. He will be the difference maker in those tough road games."

KEITH JACKSON

Former ABC voice of college football

"There are a lot of potholes in this road, at least seven. I still remember 1942 at Auburn and what happened to the great Rose Bowl team."

MATT HAYES

Sporting News

"Short answer: No. But does it really matter? Considering an SEC team has made it to the national title game the last two years with at least one loss, why can't the Dawgs make it three in a row in 2008?"

DENNIS DODD

CBS Sportsline

"Preseason No. 1? Yes, by a smidge and subject to change before Aug. 30. Undefeated? Noooo way. This is Georgia, which lost two games last season and looks pretty good next season, not Oklahoma of the '50s. The SEC is still the SEC. Watch out at South Carolina, at Arizona State, at LSU, vs. Florida and at Auburn."

DICK BESTWICK

Harris poll voter/former UGA athletic administrator and Peach Bowl executive director

"I felt Georgia had the quality and quantity of personnel to beat everyone in 2007 and feel even more certain about that this year. However, going undefeated is an uncommon feat and only happens when everything breaks your way. With this schedule, the most difficult schedule I've seen in my 60-plus years of watching this business, winning all 13 games would be a feat of uncommon occurrence and would certainly make you the No. 1 team in the nation. I consider winning them all possible, but highly improbable."

DICK WEISS

AP Top 25 voter/New York Daily News

"I'm just not confident anyone can run the table in the SEC anymore. The league is just too tough. As good as Georgia is, the back-to-back league games with Alabama and Tennessee, then LSU and Florida, scare me."

BILL CURRY

ESPN/Former Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia Tech coach

"Georgia will be very, very good, but I do not think they will go undefeated. It hurts the team to place such huge expectations on them. Just ask the Patriots. South Carolina will be tough at home, Florida will be reminded of last year's game — and 'the demonstration' — ad infinitum, and Georgia Tech will be very, very tough. I think the Dawgs will lose one, maybe two."

DEAN LEGGE

Dawg Post

"It's possible for Georgia to get through the 2008 season without a scratch, but it seems like too much to ask. Back-to-back road trips to Baton Rouge and Jacksonville [against Florida] loom, and home dates with 'Bama and the Vols seem like a real challange. That's not even mentioning the usual suspects: [Georgia] Tech, Auburn and South Carolina. Can it be done? Yes. Will it be done? I have my reservations."

BOBBY BURTON

Rivals.com

"The last two national champions — LSU and Florida — both lost games in conference. To run the gauntlet in the SEC unscathed isn't just about being good; it requires a little bit of fate. It's doubtful, but the ultimate prize could still be attainable."

HERB GOULD

AP Top 25 voter/Chicago Sun-Times

"Undefeated would be a tall order for anybody with that schedule. They could be as good as anybody in the country and still have two or three losses with that schedule. Sort of like '07."

BRUCE FELDMAN

ESPN The Magazine

"It's possible that Georgia can run the table given its talent but I think it's a long shot. The schedule doesn't break well for them with a lot of tough road games. Going to [Arizona State] won't be easy and the back to back of at LSU and Florida is brutal, although that mightv'e just gotten a bit more manageable thanks to [suspended LSU quarterback] Ryan Perrillioux's decision-making process."

MARK SCHLABACH

ESPN.com

"I think it will be nearly impossible, given the road schedule and consecutive games against defending national champion LSU and Florida. Throw in road games at South Carolina, Arizona State and Auburn, and I think it's just too difficult. But if Georgia can navigate the schedule with only one loss, I think the Bulldogs will still have a chance to win the BCS national championship."

Unrealistic expectations are hard to have for some Bulldawg fans... I don't want to look past the first game of the season. After that one is tucked away - we can look at the next, and so on.

But with all of these guys saying - Wow, look at Georgia's schedule! It can't be done! It's just too difficult... doesn't that just make you wonder what if? What if?

That National Schedule along with our usual foes brings the toughest schedule in the NCAA season to the forefront of sportswriters minds. schedule - even a pretty good PAC 10 team in the mix... UGA is good this year and it has shown for the past 7 games... they're young and talented. The expectations are high - the media has no where else to hide - it is time for the DAWGS to man up for the 2008 season right now! Georgia's 2008 schedule of opponents had an overall 10-1-1 2007 season.

That schedule alone should give the strength of schedule in the BCS computers enough to bolster any ranking if we win all of our games. We'll just have to wait and see how quickly the pollsters fall in line with the rest of the ESPN groupies and USC Alum.

The only worry I have is over-confidence and Dr. Van Gorder teaming up with the Evil Genius... you know they'll be gunning for us again and the Dawgs will hopefully be ready!

Hawaii, unfortunately for them, was a reminder of early season games for the Dawgs. That's why we schedule the slackers (Oklahoma State, Boise State, etc.) early in the season, to grind out some last minute wrinkles and test out our new guys in the heat of a battle. Hawaii will open at UF this fall and I don't expect they'll get the third string in the 4th quarter to allow them to score 7.

What do you think? Are the Dawgs going to be inline for another shot at the NC this time next year? Or will they miss the boat losing to the likes of Spurrier, Miles or Myer? That's a pretty tough gauntlet to run... In comparison, here is USC's schedule:

University of Southern California
Aug. 30 at Virginia (9-4)
Sept. 13 Ohio State (10-1)
Sept. 25 at Oregon State (8-4)
Oct. 4 Oregon (8-4)
Oct. 11 Arizona State (10-3)
Oct. 18 at Washington State (5-7)
Oct. 25 at Arizona (5-7)
Nov. 1 Washington (4-9)
Nov. 8 California (7-6)
Nov. 15 at Stanford (4-8)
Nov. 29 Notre Dame (3-9)
Dec. 6 at UCLA (6-7)

USC's schedule of 2008 opponents had a overall 5-6 winning season... I've heard his testimony and he loves the Lord! No doubt! And I congratulate him on an extraordinary individual season and applaud the Heisman voters for nominating a sophomore (even though he was the Media darling for the 2nd half of the season). I expect that simply put, we'll hear more from this guy before it's all said and done. Tebow, instead of having the typical sophomore slump, did the exact opposite. The Gators will be tough to take for the next two years. But, I digress. I have only a short preview of what I expect won't be in the Heisman highlights for the newest winner of the bronze label.

Now, no doubt, this will be on Florida's radar next year in Jacksonville. But, I'll always remember the year the Dawgs beat the Heisman candidate to hand him one of his worst losses of the season. I think there was one other visor slinging Heisman candidate that lost his perfect season to the Dawgs as well... hmmmm... could we have another monster in the making?!?

Go Dawgs! explains to her class that she is a Georgia Tech fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they are Georgia Tech fans too. Not really knowing what a Georgia Tech fan was, but wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands fly into the air. There is, however, one exception. Susie has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. “Because I’m not an Georgia Tech fan,” she reports. “Then,” asks the teacher, “what are you?” “I’m a Georgia Bulldog fan,” boasts the little girl. The teacher asks Susie why she is a Georgia fan. “Well, my Dad and Mom are Bulldog fans, so I’m a Bulldog fan too” she responds. “That’s no reason,” the teacher says. “What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was an idiot. “What would you be then?” the teacher asks. Susie smiles and says, “Then I’d be a Georgia Tech fan.”

This guy walks into a bar wearing a GT jersey and carrying a little dog that also has a GT jersey on with a little GT helmet too. The guy says to the bartender, “Can my dog and I watch the GT game here? My TV at home broke and my dog and I want to see the game.” The bartender replies, “Normally, dogs in the bar would not be allowed, but it is not terribly busy in here, so you and the dog can have a seat at the end of the bar.? But, if there is any trouble with you or the dog, I’ll have to ask you to leave.” The guy agrees and he and his dog start watching the game. Pretty soon the Yellow Jackets kick a field goal and the little dog jumps on the bar and walks down the bar and gives everyone a high five. The bartender says, “Hey, that’s cool! What does he do for a touch down?” The guy answers, “I don’t know, I’ve only had him for 3 years.”

In a surprise move, Tech coach Chan Gailey has hired Mike Vick as his new offensive coordinator. Apparently no one else at Tech knows how to beat a dawg.

Last semester every one of the Tech football players made straight “A“‘s. The coaching staff is hopeful that by the end of next semester they will have learned how to make round “O“‘s.

A Georgia fan, an Auburn fan and a Tech fan were sentenced to death in the electric chair. The appointed day came, the Georgia fan was strapped in and was asked whether he had any last words. “Go you Hairy Dogs,” he said. The warden pulled the switch and nothing happened. The warden said, “State law provides that if you survive an electrocution, you can go free.” The Georgia fan got up and left. The Auburn fan was brought in, strapped in the chair and asked for his last words. “War Eagle,” he said. The warden pulled the switch and nothing happened. He, too, was allowed to go free. The Tech fan was then brought in and asked for his last words. He looked up and said, “If you don’t connect the white wire to the ground terminal connection, you’ll never get this thing to work.”

Georgia and Georgia Tech were playing a football game, when a whistle mistakenly blew the end of the game. Georgia, thinking the game was over, left the field. Four plays later, Tech scored a touchdown.

Proud To Be a Dawg!

You know, every once in a while, you just look up and think about something fun and it makes you smile... I just did that. I was thinking about the UGA football team and the games we have won this year. Granted, we lost a couple that were disappointing, but I think the two we have won really make up for those. Who cares that the big Orange is going to the SEC Championship game... I mean really... do they think they have a chance against LSU?

Back to the good thoughts... I just finished reading through some articles in the AJC about the Blackout Game and how Coach Richt is finally letting his hair down some and encouraging the players to play hard but have fun. It seems to have paid off! Beating the Gators would have been enough for me to make my season - but the Blackout the Dawgs put on Auburn just was icing on my cake. I said earlier this season, as long as the Dawgs beat Florida, I was happy. They not only beat Florida, but I finally felt like the curse was lifted. The Gators looked dejected and beaten - and that hasn't been the case in quite a while. It's nice to see.

Then, the Dawgs started out ok with Auburn, let them climb back into the lead - but the real show of a developing team, was the fact that they turned it around and shut down the momentum that Auburn had started. Not only did they shut it down... they danced on their heads to the Soulja' Boy theme song and got the fans into a lathered up Bulldawg frenzy. Auburn didn't have a chance after that! Ol' Goobers Corner will have to wait until another year for the celebration against the Dawgs.

Now, I've just read about how Chan Gailey's job rides on the GA-GA Tech game outcome. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. I think that the train is already chugging from the Athenstown to the A-Town and it seems to be moving with some serious 'Mo. It's actually quite humorous to me - as I was searching for UGA/KY tickets for this weekend (though I'm so sick right now I couldn't go anyways) - that I was finding many examples of Tech's unflinching support of their team. On Craigslist, for example, there were several opportunities to purchase UGA/KY tickets for Saturday's game in Athens. The offers looked like:

2 UGA/KY Tickets - Upper Level Section 319 with parking pass - $400.00

Reasonable, yet the humor was the next offer in line:

4 Ga Tech/North Carolina Tickets plus parking, 4 hot dogs, 4 cokes and Programs - $80.00

I'm looking for UGA/GA Tech tickets and hope I can get some free hotdogs once I get down there... let me know if you have any. The accidental oil spill has marred the Bay for the foreseeable future and caused some serious damage to the wildlife and possibly the shipping industry. With fingers being pointed back and forth; officials whining about too many untrained volunteers; and the response speed of a land turtle, San Francisco has some lessons to learn in the midst of the cleanup. I'm no expert, so I won't claim to know any better than those in charge there, but I am simply disappointed that the crown jewel of the West Coast is now slicked over with the black goo.

I have been to San Fran several times in the past couple of years on business and occasionally, was able to slip away and do some sight seeing. I stayed in Tiburon on several of those trips at a great lodge there - and would highly recommend it.

Here are a few of my pictures from the city by the bay on my sightseeing trips.

Golden Gate Park coastline

Golden Gate Bridge - It's just impressive! The way the water churns in that bay, the oil may not linger for long locally - but it's long term affects could be felt up and down the coastline for several months. I hope to see it contained quicker next time - and in my opinion, there will be a "next time" unfortunately.

Oh, Those Dawgs!

Yeah... (AP) -- Now that he's no longer calling plays, Mark Richt has more time to think of ways to fire up his players.

The Georgia coach came up with another winner Saturday.

Richt sent out the No. 10 Bulldogs in black jerseys for the first time in the modern era, and boy did they look good in their new color. Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes, Knowshon Moreno had 100 yards rushing for the fourth straight game and Georgia kept alive its Southeastern Conference title hopes with a 45-20 victory over 18th-ranked Auburn.

"That was a lot of fun," said Richt, who suddenly has gone from a laid-back, by-the-book coach to someone willing to resort to all sorts of motivational tactics. "That was maybe first or second on the fun-meter for me."

Just two weeks ago, Richt broke character by ordering his team to celebrate excessively after their first score against Florida. The whole team stormed the end zone, drawing all sorts of penalties, but the Bulldogs went on to a 42-30 victory over the defending national champions.

Richt actually cooked up the jersey switch over the summer, giving in to a senior class that was desperate for a chance to wear black instead of Georgia's traditional red. Everyone else was kept in the dark -- literally.

The Bulldogs donned red in pregame warmups, then returned to the locker room for their normal ritual of praying privately with the lights turned out. When they came back on, everyone had black jerseys at their lockers.

"Oh, man, we were so jacked up," said senior receiver Sean Bailey, who had four catches for a career-best 96 yards.

The Bulldogs (8-2) remained on top of the SEC East with a 5-2 mark, but they'll need a little help to reach the Dec. 1 championship game in nearby Atlanta. Tennessee has only two SEC losses, too, and holds the tiebreaker over Georgia.

Whatever the outcome in the league race, the Bulldogs will long savor this win over their longest-running rival. In the 111th meeting between the schools, Stafford threw a 58-yard TD pass to Mohamed Massaquoi and a 13-yarder to Bailey. Moreno, a redshirt freshman, had another big game with scoring runs of 24 and 2 yards, finishing with 101 yards on 22 carries.

Thomas Brown, returning from a broken collarbone, finished off the Tigers (7-4, 4-3) with a 53-yard run to the Auburn 1 early in the fourth. Brannan Southerland powered over on the next play, and the celebration was on for the black-clad Bulldogs and all their fans wearing the same color.

Georgia scored the final 28 points against an Auburn defense that was leading the SEC and ranked fifth nationally in points allowed, just 14.5 per game. Georgia has eclipsed 40 points in three straight games, the first time that's happened since 1942.

"I thought we looked confused out there at times," Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said. "When you give up 45 points, you've been taken to the woodshed."

The Tigers rallied for the lead in the third quarter but couldn't overcome four interceptions by Brandon Cox.

"Just one of those nights," said Cox, who also threw four interceptions against Georgia last year. "Their defense really got too much pressure on us."

Months ago, Richt circled the Auburn game as the perfect opportunity for a "blackout."

The Tigers had beaten Georgia in 12 of their last 15 meetings at Sanford Stadium, so Richt knew his team could use an emotional edge. Early in the week, he hinted at what was to come by requesting that all fans wear black, saying he was merely passing along the wishes of the seniors.

The Internet buzzed with speculation that something was up, but the Bulldogs came out for warmups wearing their normal home attire. When the four captains walked out of the locker room still in red, there was a bit of a groan from the crowd.

It was all a ruse, of course.

The rest of the team charged out through the main entrance wearing black jerseys, sending the 92,000 fans into a tizzy, the massive stadium rocking out to the AC/DC anthem "Back in Black."

"It was important to make coach Richt look good," Bailey said. "He put himself on the line by letting us wear black."

On Auburn's very first play from scrimmage, Kelin Johnson snatched the first of his two interceptions, setting up Brandon Coutu's 32-yard field goal and sparking Georgia to a 17-3 lead by early in the second period.

But the outcome was very much in doubt after Auburn, still smarting from a 37-15 loss to the Bulldogs a season ago, ripped off 17 straight points. Ben Tate ran it in from the 7, Mario Fannin hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from Cox and Wes Byrum put the Tigers ahead for the first time on a 33-yard field goal with just under 7 minutes left in the third.

But Georgia wasn't about to lose on its very special night.

"We just looked in the mirror and said, 'This is our house. We don't want to get embarrassed,'" Johnson said.

The Bulldogs dominated the rest of the way, reclaiming the lead with two big plays. First, Stafford went deep down the right sideline for a 45-yard pass to Bailey that was actually called by Richt instead of offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Then, Moreno ripped off a brilliant run, sprinting through a big hole over left tackle and, just when it looked like he would head for the corner, cut back to his right and left Auburn safety Zac Etheridge grasping at air. Moreno posed in the end zone with both hands on his hips, having barely been touched.

When it was over, the Bulldogs sprinted toward the student section, dancing along with one more playing of "Back in Black."

I'm thinking that the Dawgs could continue the tradition of a Blackout for every home night game - it was evidently pretty intimidating for the #5 Defense in the nation. The Tigers were shook from the very first play from scrimmage.

I wasn't at the game - but I was watching with my college roommate at his house on his HUGE TV - so it felt like we were there!

What do you think about the Dawgs taking both UF and Auburn to the cleaners in the past three weeks? Do you think we have found our identity as a team that can take their talent and planning, add a dose of fun and inspiration and totally kick butt on the field? If we can take care of business against a GOOD Kentucky team and get a little help from Vandy this weekend... this could be a very interesting ending to our season. Otherwise, it's still two classic games in a single season - and I'll take those any day!!!

Go DAWGS!!!

Road Weary Road Warrior: San Diego

I'm in San Diego this week - beautiful town if only I could see the sky. Between the foul weather and the leftover smoke from the wildfires, there isn't a chance on seeing any sunshine. But nonetheless, I can tell why everyone says this is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. I'll post some pictures later (after I get a chance to take some).

Just a quick post for kicks and giggles... may post more later.

Road Weary Road Warrior: Los Angeles

Several days at a time in Southern California reminds me of why I don't want to ever live here. Wow. I can do traffic - I live in Atlanta. It's not that different - just have to figure out some of the patterns and you can live with it. I can do smog - same thing - Atlanta has plenty of smog. I think it is the blight of the urban sprawl and the houses built one on top of the next with no yard or privacy space to speak of.

Folks in Southern Cali love it - me? I enjoy the visit and that's about it. Even the beaches are not all that.

With all of that said... I did make it up into the San Bernardino Mountains...and I can see what some of the attraction of living up there could be. It was beautiful - not in the Smoky Mountains sense of beauty - but God's creation all the same. I took a few pictures. Drove a lot. Saw Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear Lake and 7000 ft. elevations. The scenery up there was beautiful. It was worth the drive and redeemed the awful thoughts I was enduring about the basin.

San Bernardino State Park

Road to Big Bear Lake

It was fun and beautiful - and I wasn't aware that the same areas I had been driving around in that morning would be on fire by that night. When I was getting on the plane to head back to the ATL from LAX, the big fires were actually just getting started. Lake Arrowhead got hit pretty bad... I've got to go to San Diego in a couple of weeks - hope it is still there by then!
